What is "clean energy"?
Clean energy is defined as energy that does not create emissions or greenhouse gases and/or is renewable. 
The EDA defines a “Good Job” as: 
  1. A job that exceeds the local prevailing wage for an industry in the region and includes basic benefits (e.g., paid leave, health insurance, retirement/savings plan); and/or
  2. A union job.
From entry level technician spaces to engineering, there are a variety of jobs available in the clean energy space.  Below are some examples from STEPS4GROWTH focus areas:

A pyramid model is used to show potential career pathways from a particular set of curriculum and then shows the potential growth in career options with different off-ramps to help illustrate the curriculum required for different positions available in a specific area of clean energy.  The example below shows a potential pyramid model for Renewable Energy. The vision of the STEPS4GROWTH project is to develop a national model for local workforce development that creates an inclusive pipeline of professionals in clean energy through innovative partnerships and competency-based training, empowering individuals to attain Good Jobs and support sustainable career pathways with family-sustaining wages.  

Per the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality “To successfully transition to a clean energy future, North Carolina must establish a 21st-century regulatory model that incentivizes business decisions that benefit both the utilities and the public in creating an energy system that is clean, affordable, reliable, and equitable.”
